4 Writers.com has creative writing courses available on-line, along with good information, links, tips and tricks.

4-edit.com.The Editing International site has a great newsletter, and offers good writing tips. They also provide  Editing & Marketing Services and Creative Writing Resources.

Clear Guide to Punctuation by Ed Parris, of Lake Washington Technical College, has put his, an online grammar handbook, on the web.

Columbia Guide to Online Style by Janice R. Walker and Todd Taylor has an online guide "to locating, translating, and using the elements of citation for both a humanities style (i.e., MLA and Chicago) and a scientific style (APA and CBE) for electronically-accessed sources."

Contract? What Contract?  Provides an excellent overview of the types of contracts, including models of contracts, one might encounter in the world of writing

Copyright Basics from the American Bar Association and if you can't trust a lawyer, who can you trust?

Elements of Style Asserting that one must first know the rules to break them, this classic reference book is a must-have for any student and conscientious writer. Intended for use in which the practice of composition is combined with the study of literature, it gives in brief space the principal requirements of plain English style and concentrates attention on the rules of usage and principles of composition most commonly violated.  A Strunk & White's classic. Fear it.

Essays on the Craft of Dramatic Writing offers writers of all levels and genres new ideas on the essential elements of storytelling: creating dynamic characters. It identifies what's at stake in a story, and ensures that both the plot and story lines converge into an emotionally fulfilling resolution.

Fiction Writers Edge. is the site for Eric Zeisler who offers to help improve your writing.  Check out his site if you feel you could use some distance learning.

Guide to Grammar and Style These notes are a miscellany of grammatical rules and explanations, comments on style, and suggestions on usage I put together for my classes. Nothing here is carved in stone, and many comments are matters of personal preference.  Also advice on grammar and style from Jack Lynch, an English professor at Rutgers University.

Guide to Grammar and Writing  is the brainchild of Charles Darling of Capital Community Technical College, Hartford Connecticut.  It is tremendously comprehensive, including 75 computer-graded quizzes, innumerable handouts on writing and style and has a section called Principles of Composition, containing sample essays for the various traditional modes of composition.

Helpful Articles for Writers and Publishers  is produced bt attorney and Writer Ivan Hoffman.  Delves deep into most subjects and gives the scoop on what to do and not do..

How to write a book proposal Description: Advice on book proposal writing from a publisher. Good content.

Indispensable Writing Resources  does as it name applies.  Full of usefull features and goodies.

Learn to Write offers sixteen handpicked books, fourteen select topics, three magazines, and twelve web sites that will get you off to a running start.  Links and reviews of sites, books, and magazines that help authors write.

Misc.Writing Homepage    misc.writing is a UseNet newsgroup that provides a forum for discussion of writing in all its forms.

Novalearn  although very commercial, still has a lot to offer the writer.  Market needs, writing circles, software for writers and a host of other interesting information.  Well worth a visit.

One of Us A British site aiming to help writers from all over the world to find and use resources to help them with their creative writing.

Online English Grammar is operated by the Digital Education Network which provides a range of Internet based services for education.  Since 1995 it has been providing students and education professionals with information and resources on the Internet. They have over 300,000 user sessions per month (over 2.5 million hits!) making it one of the most visited education sites on the net.  A guide that's searchable through a table of contents.

Painted rock is what this writers and readers colony call themselves, and not without good reason. Free weekly writing magazine, a free research list serve for writers, writing challenges and you win prizes.  All good stuff.

Paradigm Online Writing Assistant is  an "interactive, menu-driven, online writers guide and handbook" by Chuck Gulford of Boise State University. Features information, advice, and activities on topics such as discovering, organizing, revising, editing, thesis/support essays, exploratory essays, argumentative essays, informal essays, and on documenting sources.

PRO SCREENWRITER Links page  is a good directory of products, services and resources to help screenwriters succeed and producers to find screenwriters and screenplays.  Full of useful advice, info, and hundreds of categorized and alphabetized links to other sites.

SC Beginnings   An online magazine for amateur writers. Features a messageboard, chat, guidelines, and editors to look at your work.

Society for Technical Communication for those interested in technical communication, the  site provides useful information; they have a separate site listing regional and chapter information.

Some Observations on Copyright Laws is basically an essay on copyright issues in the United States.

It provides links to many academic and non-academic writing sites in and around the UK and the world, sponsors online chats with authors, provides online help and information for writers in different genres, sponsors conferences, and much more. Well worth a visit.

WebGrammar  Need help with spelling, grammar, homonyms, punctuation, capitalization, and style? Or information in the areas of writing, education, typography, academic research.  A site devoted to entirely to grammar.

Write 101   Write101.com has over a hundred articles on ways to improve your writing. There are tips for business people, students and those who want to write fiction. There's also a monthly contest and you can subscribe to FREE, weekly Writing Tips.

Writers' Guidelines Database  Writers' Guidelines Database was created by writers for writers. They have more than 300 indexed guidelines to paying non-fiction markets, a monthly newsletter to update you on new listings, writing resources, alerts to dead publications, a message board for writers and editors to share opinions, frustrations, and expertise.

Write On! Internet Resource Guide  The Write On! Internet Resource Guide web page serves as a companion to a monthly half-hour radio program about writing by writers. The Write On! page offers links to other Internet sites related to writing and literature.
