Part 4 sees the gypsies travelling towards France. Canana is healing, and it's becoming increasingly difficult to conceal him. Manana reluctantly tries to persuade the eagle to fly away. She is unsuccessful, so taking a horse and some food she sets off to return him to his home in the Guadalquivir. By the time they return, Canana's family have left for the

new lands and Canana is now the last remaining eagle in the valley. Manana stays to help Canana, helping him develop his hunting technique, but she is spotted by a shepherd in the valley where she becomes known as the 'Devil's child'. Manana is eventually captured by the inquisition, branded a witch and sentenced to burn.
Manana's father, who is looking for her, hears of her fate, and with some trusted companions set out to rescue her
